The caravan was very well received by the farmers of Siniena, many of which are using the innovations of the “Insect as Feed Project” (IFWA) in order to feed their animals in a more sustainable way. These farmers are using innovative techniques to trap termites and to produce fly larvae as poultry feed, allowing them to reduce the use of imported feed and prevent the destruction of termite mounts, a traditional way of using the insect as poultry feed. The use of termites and fly larvae was also shown by the project to be a nutritious and healthy food for poultry, as well as economically advantageous.
